About Rebecca

"My background is in social work - I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and criminology and a Master of Social Work, graduating from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2013.

I am experienced in working in a wide range of areas including hospital social work, community mental health and case management, homelessness, community rehabilitation, aged care, acquired brain injury and disability. My hospital experience includes emergency, intensive care, rehabilitation, general medicine, surgical, cardiology and acute stroke. Through my many years of working in acute, inpatient and community settings I have developed a breadth of knowledge and skills in assessment, case management, crisis intervention, complex discharge planning, psychosocial support, grief and loss, adjustment counselling and working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

I have a special interest in trauma-informed practice and completed my Level 1 and 2 Certification in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) in 2020. EFT is a mindfulness-based stress-reduction technique that is effective in reducing stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and effects of trauma by down-regulating the body’s nervous system and emotional centre of the brain. I take a holistic approach to working with people, viewing each person as the expert in their own lives and working from a strengths-based perspective."
