Workers Insurance property damage payments
If your personal property is damaged in a workplace accident, you may be able to claim for the cost of replacing it.
Workers Insurance can cover the costs of damages to certain personal property, including artificial aids and clothing.
You do not have to be injured to make a property damage claim.
To make a claim, you will need to submit the costs of repairing or replacing damaged items to us in writing.
Damage to artificial aids
The maximum amount payable for damage to artificial aids is $2,000.
This may be increased by a direction from the Workers Compensation Commission.
Artificial aids can include:
- artificial eyes
- false teeth
- crutches
- artificial limbs
- spectacles.
Compensation can include:
- the reasonable cost of repair (or if necessary the replacement) of the artificial aid
- the service costs of qualified people (eg consultations, prescriptions and examinations) in repairing or replacing the artificial aid
- the loss of wages associated with attending consultations, prescriptions and examinations to repair or replace the artificial aid.
Damage to clothing
This can include compensation for the repair, and if necessary the replacement, of clothing damaged in the incident.
The maximum amount payable for damage to clothing is $600. This amount may be increased by a direction from the Workers Compensation Commission.
