Shine Magazine summer 2024 edition is out now
Stories in this issue cover the importance of family and community, living life on your own terms, and giving things a go. It also features a showcase on the Shine Arts Prize 2024.

By sharing stories of resilience and new beginnings, we hope to build a connection between the people and families we serve.
“Have faith in the people around you. Create a team you can trust."
Shine magazine is produced twice a year for people in Lifetime Care and the Workers Care program.
In this edition you will read about:
- Tomas, Never give up, on page 2: Tom had a major brain injury as a pedestrian 10 years ago. After intensive rehab, he returned to his hometown of Narromine and works full time with his pre-injury employer.
- Mark, Establish your own life, on page 4: Mark left home straight after school, went off to explore and became a timber cutter. A workplace accident in the forest resulted in a brain injury and paraplegia. He now gets out and about on his rural acreage and still works with timber.
- Mathew and Elva, In their community, on page 16: After a major motorbike accident, Mathew needed 24-hour care. His mother, Elva, is the matriarch of her extended family with caring roles for Mathew, other family members, and people in her community.
Other articles feature supported self-care as an option for participants looking for more choice and control in how they engage and manage support workers, and our new support worker recognition program.
