icare REX celebrates five years of delivering risk management education to NSW Government
Risk Education eXpress (REX) celebrated its five-year anniversary in July 2023.
REX was established to provide NSW Government agencies with programs and resources to build capabilities to manage risk and protect people, assets, and services.
Over the past five years, REX has delivered an ever-evolving range of relevant and practical learning tailored to agency needs. It has been responsive to new and emerging risks facing the NSW Government sector to equip agencies with the knowledge and tools needed to protect people and assets, and aid recovery should harm occur.
Some of the key stats from REX's five-year history include:
- 15,543 learners
- 620 programs delivered, including 258 face-to-face and 362 virtual
- 95% customer satisfaction
- Biggest event: REX for Kids - Virtual Learning with Taronga Zoo, with 1,200 registrations and 800+ attendees during the COVID-19 pandemic
- 2,095 active REX platform users from 145 different NSW Government agencies.
Sharon Johnson, REX Client Education Lead, said REX will continue to refresh and evolve its education offerings to support the NSW Government in the protection of people, assets, and services.
“We are committed to supporting NSW Government agencies to build the knowledge and skills they need to manage risk effectively.”
"We will continue to develop new and innovative learning programs that meet the needs of our clients," Johnson said.
A key focus of the REX curriculum is facilitating mentally healthy workplaces. A recent participant of the Leading with Psychological Safety program said the course had given them "valuable skills and insight on how to deal with the everyday mental health issues both big and small."
"I have learnt how important it is to ensure I create an environment of psychological safety where all the staff feel they are able to come to me and speak freely without judgement or reprimand regarding where they are at that point in time," the participant said.
