icare responds to HWL Ebsworth cyber incident

Law firm, HWL Ebsworth, recently experienced a data breach which resulted in some of its information being stolen and disclosed online.

HWL Ebsworth, a law firm used by a range of large commercial and government organisations, and who acts as one of icare's lawyers in relation to a number of matters and held some documents and information provided to it by icare including, in some circumstances, information relevant to claims made by individuals.

As soon as icare became aware of the data theft, we began working with HWL Ebsworth and the relevant government agencies to determine if, and the extent to which, any icare information may have been affected.

Investigations conducted by HWL Ebsworth to date have identified that some icare information, including some claims information, may have been compromised as part of the HWL Ebsworth incident.

On all the information received to date, it seems likely that approximately 800 of the people icare serves may be affected by the HWL Ebsworth breach.

Where icare is able to identify that information relating to an injured person was compromised, they will be contacted to provide them with the relevant information as soon as possible.
