Home building compensation insurance fast-tracked for builders in flood-affected areas in Northern NSW

icare, in partnership with Resilience NSW, is fast-tracking eligibility applications for home building compensation insurance for builders in five flood-affected local government areas (LGAs).

The fast-tracked applications will help rebuild devastated communities in northern NSW and are available for builders in the Ballina, Byron, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed Shires.

icare's Group Executive, Insurance for NSW & Home Building Compensation Fund, Rashi Bansal, said expediting this process means builders can get on with work on the many repair projects needed to help rebuild these communities.

"We understand how much these communities are hurting and we want to help by making it as easy as possible to starting the rebuilding process," Ms Bansal said.

"The current delays and shortages in the construction industry are well documented and prioritising eligibility helps by speeding up one step in the process.

"Getting a certificate of eligibility is the first step to obtain insurance from icare HBCF for residential building work in NSW."

A builder's eligibility determines the maximum value and number of construction projects they can have open at any given time with icare HBCF. It also certifies the maximum contract price for each type of construction work they’re eligible to perform.
