icare continues industry engagement on claims model through a Market Study

icare is continuing its engagement with industry and the community on the way workers compensation claims are managed in future through a Market Study for potential service providers.

icare is seeking to understand service providers' capabilities and experience in providing claims and injury management services as well as current and emerging industry activities and innovations.

This will inform the planning for the previously announced procurement process for claims and injury management services with the aim of improving the way claims are managed and providing simpler, better care for injured workers and support for businesses.

Information requested through the Market Study includes key competencies across service offerings, outcomes focussed on return to health and work, digital and innovation capabilities, and experience in managing claims and injury management-related services.

The Market Study is available on the NSW Government eTendering website and is open for four weeks until Monday 6 December.

The Market Study is separate to the upcoming procurement process for claims and injury management services. The intention is to begin this procurement process in the first quarter of next year.

The Market Study is part of an extensive consultation process on the new claims model, which included a survey on the NSW Government Have Your Say website, in which icare has sought input from injured workers, businesses, unions, industry groups, service providers and the community.

It's the first time in four years that icare has sought such comprehensive community and industry input into the claims model to improve the way claims are managed in the future with the goal of providing simpler, better care for injured workers and support for businesses.

icare has also conducted one-on-one interviews, focus groups and stakeholder briefings with employers, workers and other interested parties, specifically seeking input into the importance of different aspects of the way an injured worker’s claim is managed.
