Celebrating excellence: icare Sporting Injuries and the Champions of Sport Awards

In New South Wales we know that sport is more than a game, it's where teams become family, communities are created, and individuals are inspired.

Community sport is so more than just a game; it's the heartbeat of Australian communities.

To celebrate this, the rebel NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony is held every year to recognise the remarkable accomplishments of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and organisations who have significantly enriched the world of sports throughout the year.

icare Sporting Injuries understands the power of community sport in building stronger, healthier, and happier communities, that's why we've stepped up this year to sponsor the Coach of the Year Award, which acknowledges outstanding performance with and athlete or team through the year. The Award was won by Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi.

Myriam has been a pivotal figure in steering Australia's female canoe slalom programme to resounding success for over twenty years.

Under her guidance, renowned athletes such as Jess and Noemie Fox, and Kate Eckhardt, have clinched individual and team World Titles, solidifying their positions for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Jess Fox notably secured her 10th individual World Title, and the team's triumph in the event marked Australia's inaugural World Championship title.

Myriam's exceptional coaching skills and dedication were honoured with the prestigious IOC Coaches Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to her status as an elite figure in global sports coaching.

Beyond her coaching prowess, Myriam is a fervent proponent of women's rights in sports, advocating tirelessly for gender equality and emphasising the significance of nurturing well-rounded individuals alongside their athletic talents.

Jackie Schram, Sporting Injuries Underwriter, shared her thoughts on the event, stating, "icare Sporting Injuries is honoured to sponsor the Coach of the Year Award. Our unwavering dedication to promoting safety in sport and injury prevention is at the core of what we do, and coaches across the State play a vital role in keeping sports safe.

"The significance of safety on the field, track, and water cannot be overstated; it's not just important to us, but absolutely vital for the community organisations and professional athletes we serve."

Congratulations to all Myriam and all the finalists and winners of the 2023 Rebel Champions of Sport Awards!
