New CEO confirms leadership changes at icare

New icare CEO Richard Harding today announced leadership changes to refocus the organisation on core priorities.

The core priorities are caring for injured workers and road users and supporting NSW businesses, homeowners and the NSW Government.

"I was appointed to reset the organisation, this is the first step," said Mr Harding.

"I am introducing a smaller more accountable leadership team to bring in new thinking and focus the organisation on what it was set up to do. These changes are about reducing complexity, duplication and simplifying the business."

"My three focus areas are:

  1. Improving risk and governance—to meet community and regulatory expectations
  2. Improving performance—particularly getting injured workers back to work sooner and reducing internal costs
  3. Driving an accountable culture—particularly for our leaders."

"Importantly we will more closely align the organisation with the different schemes we manage to ensure injured workers, road users, businesses and the NSW Government receive services from those who understand them best."

"A newly created role of Group Executive for Risk and Governance will be charged with lifting our risk, compliance and governance performance and will have a dual reporting line to the CEO and to the Board. I will be advertising for the role shortly."

"As a result of these changes, a number of executives will be departing the organisation over the forthcoming period. This includes Group Executives Rob Craig and Sara Kahlau."

"Don Ferguson will continue for a six-month period to continue to support the transition of the new Group Executive when they are appointed. Don will leave the organisation by the end of August."

"Having come into the organisation very recently, I am very pleased that the culture of the front line is focused on getting injured workers back to work, improving quality of life for the severely injured and supporting businesses and the NSW Government. This is a fantastic NSW public asset that I will leverage and build upon to get the organisation focused on what it was set up to do."

"I look forward to sharing more on our plans as the new leadership team settles in and we move forward," Mr Harding said.
