Important advice for some DDC participants
As part of icare's ongoing work to improve systems and processes, we have unfortunately discovered historical errors in the calculation of some Dust Diseases Scheme payments.
We sincerely apologise to approximately 300 (6%) of 5,000 participants in our Dust Diseases Scheme who were previously underpaid. We regret these calculation errors and are deeply sorry for any distress or concern that people may experience in relation to this. icare takes its responsibility of caring for those in our schemes very seriously.
Payment analysis relating to the impacted participants is well underway. In the coming weeks, icare will be in direct contact with those affected, to inform them of monies owed and expected timelines for payments. We intend to complete all payments by December 2024.
At the same time as we rectify these errors, we’re also implementing improved, more modern IT systems. This includes an end-to-end case management platform for the Dust Diseases Care scheme, designed to prevent errors from occurring in the future, and deliver more efficient processes.
