Ability Options

About Ability Options

Ability Options is one of the largest disability and employment service providers in New South Wales, operating since 1976. Our focus is to work with each individual, understand their story then help each person build the life they want to live.

We continue to fulfil our mission by identifying and developing services that are needed, to enable people who find themselves facing barriers or exclusion to be included in our communities. Our services now include accommodation, individual and group supports, respite, support coordination, therapy and employment. In this way, our mission towards an inclusive country, society and communities continues.

Ability Options provides support to people of all ages with low to high complex support needs, including people requiring partial and full physical assistance with activities of daily living. We provide extensive support to people with cognitive and behavioural support needs and complex communication support needs. Ability Options provides support to over 1,000 participants, each person requiring varying levels of support from general support with activities of daily living to 24/7 complex support.

We have a team of more than 1,200 incredible, highly experienced staff supporting thousands of people each and every day. Support staff assist with eating, personal care, bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers, facilitating exercise programs to maintain strength and flexibility, assistance with money management, food preparation and domestic assistance. Our qualified team use a person-centred framework to provide holistic and meaningful supports. Ability Options match participants with staff who have specific skills, capabilities, qualifications, attributes and experience to meet the identified needs and preferences of participants.

Where complex personal care is required, including bowel and bladder management, we will be guided by the recommendation of health specialists and the person receiving supports. In addition, we have a Clinical Services team who provide training, mentoring and clinical support to our staff.

Ability Options maintains certification against the Australian Community Industry Standard (ACIS). External audits have rated many aspects of our services delivery as best practice.
