Lung screening for employees working with crystalline silica and manufactured stone products

In partnership with SafeWork NSW, icare is providing a free lung screening service for employers who have received an improvement notice from SafeWork NSW.

Small businesses with less than 30 employees are eligible to receive free lung screening for their first round of screening.

Businesses with more than 30 employees receive a 50 per cent subsidy reducing the cost of screening from $100 to $50 per employee (plus GST) for their first round of screening.

Work and Health Safety Roadmap 2022

In 2018, we partnered with SafeWork NSW to assist with their Work and Health Safety Roadmap 2022.

The project includes visits to about 9,000 businesses in NSW to reduce worker risks and eliminate injuries and silicosis disease associated with exposure to respirable crystalline silica.

What is crystalline silica?

Crystalline silica, or quartz, is found in most rocks, sands, and clays. It’s estimated that one in every 100 workers exposed to silica dust will develop disease due to past exposure. Watch SafeWork NSW's video (below) to learn how to manage the risks involved when working with silica dust.
