All services are provided in accordance with the relevant standards and underpinned by Whiddon’s RBC approach. This model encourages clients to maintain and increase their independence and maximise their health status, in turn improving their quality of life and wellbeing. Clients can be assisted to maintain/regain control by ensuring they are supported/encouraged to manage their services.

Whiddon approaches the delivery of services with an enablement approach. Clients’ requirements are discussed with them, identifying areas of difficulty in performing tasks. Strategies are identified to assist clients to maintain/enhance their independence. These strategies may include the prescription of equipment/assistive aids or different approaches to performing tasks, such as task analysis and redesign. This information is then incorporated into the Care Plan with appropriate detail to inform care workers of the level of assistance required for each aspect of the task.

Staff have demonstrated knowledge and skills in supporting clients to achieve maximum independence with personal care tasks including transfers/mobility, nutrition/hydration (provide mealtime assistance where required, including assistance to dysphagic clients), assistance with the fitting of aids/appliances and prosthetic limbs, grooming, oral/personal hygiene, bowel/bladder care, medication monitoring, toileting including continence management, menstrual care and skin care in accordance with best practice guidelines. In addition to these core skills, Whiddon provides further education specific to individual clients as the need arises.

Whiddon are compliant with Aged care Quality Standards, The Attendance Care Industry Standards and NDIS Practice Standards. We have re-met the ACIS and NDIS Accrediatation Standards in June 2023 with no minor or major non-conformities. This is a testament to our ability to extend our services to enable us to continue our purpose of enriching people’s lives and making a real difference.
