Funeral expenses

If your family member received a benefit for a dust disease, we can help cover the funeral costs when they pass away.

icare dust diseases care can pay $9,000 for funeral costs when an injured worker who was receiving a dust diseases benefit passes away.

Who receives payment?

We will make the payment to the estate of the deceased person. If there is no estate or executor, we can make the payment to the person who paid the funeral expenses with proof of payment.

The executor or person paying for the funeral will need to pay for any funeral expenses over $9,000.

How to make a claim for funeral expenses?

You do not need to complete an application form.  To make a claim all you need to do is contact us to advise that your family member has passed away.

All we will ask is that you provide a copy of the medical death certificate or a copy of the death certificate issued by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages by fax, email or post.
