On Friday, 13 September 2019, the NSW Government published Workers Compensation Amendment (PIAWE) Regulation (PDF, 0.2 MB) that changes the way an injured worker’s 1 pre-injury average weekly earnings (PIAWE) is calculated. These changes come into effect on Monday, 21 October 2019 and apply to workers injured on or after that date.
To help employers and brokers to understand the latest definition of PIAWE and how it is calculated, icare has launched three 15-minute online training modules:
- Module one: Understanding PIAWE
- Module two: Managing PIAWE in practice
- Module three: PIAWE agreements, communication and review pathways.
If you or your team have been unable to attend a SIRA training session, or if you’d simply like a refresher on what’s changing, these modules will help get you up to speed. Best of all, you can access them from any location, at any time, as many times as you need to.
We recommend that employers and brokers complete PIAWE training as soon as possible, as the reforms take effect on October 21 and will apply to workers injured on or after that date.
