Rise in claims for psychological injuries

The latest data on workers insurance in NSW shows a rise in psychological injuries in certain sectors over 2018.

The Finity Quarterly Monitoring report shows a 28 per cent increase in the number of psychological claims reported in 2018 – a jump to 2,908 from 2,264 reported in 2017, an upward trend which had started in 2017.

The major increases in psychological claims have occurred in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector (65 per cent increase over 12 months) and in White Collar industries, such as Financial and Insurance Services (see Figure 1).
