Remarkable

Harnessing the power of technological innovation for driving inclusion of people with disability, including icare participants and workers with spinal cord injuries and brain injuries.

Our partnership

Remarkable is made possible by Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA). Through our partnership with Remarkable, icare is contributing to the social and economic inclusion of the 1.3 million people in NSW living with disability (1 in 6 or about 4.4 million in Australia). Our hope is to provide better support for the 80 per cent of people with severe disability who report a lack of support for core activities of daily living (mobility, self-care, communication).

Remarkable is well aligned to icare and the support for more than 1,500 Lifetime Care participants, primarily with a traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury.

About the program

Remarkable is the innovative startup support program, committed to developing disability tech startups that positively impact people with disability and amplify human potential. Its mission is to support the growth of more inclusive user-centred technology solutions to drive inclusion for people with disability.

Remarkable is helping build and strengthen the disability-tech ecosystem in Australia, offering startups room to develop and refine ideas. Through its programs Remarkable provides an end-to-end pathway for new assistive tech with seed funding, access to expert networks of coaches, mentors, user feedback opportunities and access to a ready-made market.

Our support

In 2018, icare supported Remarkable with $1.5 million funding for the delivery of its disability-tech startup Accelerator, Design-athon and Bootcamps. In 2021, icare reinvested its support for a further three-year period for refinement of the accelerator program, building an evidence base for the quality of life outcomes generated by inclusive technology startups and the additional purpose of capacity building and long-term sustainability.

icare’s partnership aims to help in developing and commercialising user-centred technology solutions, to improve the quality of life for icare participants and workers, as well as other people living with disability.

We aim to help Remarkable create a healthy and connected ecosystem with startups developing and commercialising technologies that enable inclusion, autonomy, and agency for people with disability and the capacity of Remarkable is enhanced to continue its mission.
