Planning for the future

If you're a Dust Diseases Care client, we can help you work out a plan for your treatment and care needs.

Through the Dust Diseases Care program, we pay for your ongoing treatment and care needs related to your dust disease. 

Once you have been through the process of being assessed and accepted into our scheme, a planning facilitator will work with you and your family to develop a plan to identify what is important to you, to ensure you are well supported.

We aim to put you at the centre of the planning process, enabling you and your family to decide what is important and kinds of support you need.

My Plan with Dust Diseases Care program

If you’re a Dust Diseases Care client, a planning facilitator, who is usually a registered nurse or an occupational therapist, will work with you to get to know you and talk to you about your priorities and support needs using a framework called ‘My Plan’.

Preparing your plan involves meeting with your planning facilitator, as well as talking to the people who support you.

From time to time, your planning facilitator will review your plan with you and discuss any changes in your priorities and your support needs.

They’ll help you request funding for your treatment and care support required because of your dust disease.

Having a plan helps keep the focus on you and your situation – what’s important to you and how you want to be supported.
