Description

The artist felt limited following a traumatic brain injury which left her initially unable to work or drive. 

With an interest in digital media, she enrolled in a filming course to learn a new skill whilst recovering. This work represents the artist’s rehabilitation journey. From being harsh on herself, desperately wanting to get better so she could live life the way she wanted, to trusting the process and being kind to herself. 

She believes the injury gave her a chance to start over, to become a better person. She is thankful to her parents and social worker for their support along the way. 

The artist says she has found joy and happiness again. It was rough in the beginning, but she is getting through it.

This video reflects the artist's rehabilitation journey. For her, her injury is an invisible disability which she describes as isolating. She experienced cognitive and behavioural difficulties, focusing on her struggles and failing to recall achievements.

Through filming this project, she began to acknowledge her progress and build motivation to get better, believing every little step counts.
