About Julie

"I have worked as a Case Manager with Access Brain Injury Services since 2004. Given my previous experience in Nursing, I have specialised in case management for participants with complex disabilities, complex medical conditions and high level care needs for over 18 years. Prior to my current employment, I trained as an Enrolled Nurse and worked at Concord Hospital Head & Neck Trauma Unit where I gained experience in the management of acute injury.

Subsequently, I worked as a Community Nurse and as a Co-ordinator of Care Programs for clients with high level needs at Rainbow Home & Respite Service.I have also worked as the Program Manager of the Westlink Head Injury Service which provided recreation and leisure opportunities for participants with severe traumatic brain injuries.

As a result of my broad experience in the disability sector for 30 years, and specifically in services for people with acquired brain injuries, I have gained extensive experience across the stages of recovery from the acute stage to community living for people with complex disabilities. I have developed skills in working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective rehabilitation and support programs and working with participants and their families to achieve their goals in the community setting.

I work closely with families and informal support networks for Participants who are unable to articulate their goals independently to ensure that rehabilitation and support services are matched to each Participant’s unique circumstances and to ensure that the Participant’s goals are central to the services they receive. As a case manager, I am focussed on enabling Participants and their families to develop their abilities to achieve better health literacy and independence in managing relationships with a broad range of community based services.I have been an Approved Case Manager, (LTCSA) since 2017."
