About Deborah

"I have been working in neurological rehabilitation with adults, adolescents and children as a speech and language pathologist and rehabilitation case manager since 1985. I have a wide range of experience across various rehabilitation and therapy settings. In 1995, I established Access Brain Injury Services in response to a need for community-based rehabilitation and case management services for people with acquired brain injury.

I have served as a board member of the Brain Injury Association, editorial committee member of Australian Communication Quarterly, undertaken service reviews for Community Access Programs for people with acquired brain injury and co-authored the Inpatient Functional Communication Interview (Speechmark, 2004).

My contributions to service development in this sector include developing the Acquired Brain Injury training modules for Charles Sturt University and the 'Getting More from Life' Community Education programs for the South Western Sydney Acquired Brain Injury Interagency. I have also been the Service Provider Training Co-ordinator for the Brain Injury Association of NSW and was an invited member of the working group for Attendant Care Industry Association and the Co-convener of the Rehabilitation Case Manager Network.

I have a special interest in the remediation of cognitive communication and memory disorders. I am an approved care needs assessor for both adult and child participants of Lifetime Care."
