CTP Care
If you have a long-term injury caused by a motor accident in NSW and have an accepted CTP claim, your treatment and care needs may be met through CTP Care.
CTP Care provides treatment and care to people who have been injured in a motor accident in NSW from 1 December 2017 when the injured person:
This means five years following the motor accident CTP Care will take over responsibility of paying reasonable and necessary treatment and care in place of the CTP insurer.
CTP Care operates under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 and is regulated by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA). CTP Care is separate to the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme.
Access to CTP Care
CTP Care will commence on 1 December 2022. Some people who exit the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme may transition to CTP Care earlier. You may be eligible if it is agreed with you and your CTP insurer.
Your CTP insurer may contact you about an early transition to CTP Care if you:
- were injured in a motor accident in NSW from 1 December 2017
- are likely to have ongoing treatment and care needs, and entitlements under a NSW CTP claim
- have made a good recovery and it is possible you may exit the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme.
If you're suitable for early transition, you'll receive written confirmation from CTP Care.
