About the program

  • Access Paralympian Speakers who have sustained a workplace or road injury
  • No cap on the number of bookings per calendar year
  • Speaking engagements can range from 15 minutes to three hours
  • Key messages can be customised for your audience
  • Speaking engagements can be delivered in-person or virtually.
  • What do our speakers do?

Our speakers tell personal stories of their own workplace or road accidents. They are open, honest and raw about the impact it has had on their lives and those of their family, friends and colleagues.

They each have a unique and different experience to share and are passionate about doing so in the hope of preventing accidents and injuries, and helping others to be more aware of risks and more empowered to speak up.

Our speakers are experienced in speaking at a range of staff events including WHS training days and toolbox talks. They can also be booked to mark important days on the workplace calendar including National Road Safety Week, RU OK? Day, Safe Work Month, and International Day of People with Disability.

    Paralympian Speakers Program: Kahi’s Story

Paralympian Athlete Kahi Puru lost his leg in a workplace accident in 1993. Since then Kahi has dedicated his spare time to Workplace Health & Safety education for workers in Australia and across the globe.

Why should I engage a Paralympian Speaker?

Storytelling is a powerful tool for conveying information, especially stories told from personal experience. While your workers may remember the process or policy for a time, it is the real-life stories that people will remember in the long-term.

The program aims to help icare customers meaningfully engage their teams on the importance of workplace health and safety by encouraging them to speak up, to look out for risks and care for one another.
