About icare Foundation

The icare Foundation was established in 2016 to provide an integrated and strategic focus for icare's social investment activities.

Our purpose

Our goal is to improve customer outcomes and experiences in our schemes and to have a broader impact on the social challenges facing NSW communities.

We achieve this by partnering with a range of organisations – universities and research centres, not-for-profit and community organisations, government agencies – to extend the reach and support provided to injured customers, carers, their families and workplaces.

Through co-designing solution-focused approaches, we maximise the impact of our social investments and achieve a measurable impact for our customers.

Our story

icare is the state’s social insurer and was established by the NSW Government to protect, insure and care for the people, businesses and assets of NSW, including those injured at work and on the roads.

We are responsible for preventing injuries, compensating people for injury-related losses in NSW workplaces and on our roads, assisting with their rehabilitation and return to work, and enhancing the quality of life for the seriously injured and their families and carers.

This is underpinned by the values of fairness and equity.

Our social heart

Since we started, icare Foundation has committed more than $25 million to support research, seed-funding, capacity building and scale-funding.

We have positively impacted the lives of thousands of people who live in NSW. We plan to continue working with innovators who are making real in-roads and trailblazing new paths in injury recovery and prevention, and health and wellbeing.
