How small businesses can help injured employees recover at work

As an employer you have a requirement to help an injured employee continue to work, or return to work, as part of their recovery from injury or illness.

In the 2018 policy renewal year, there were approximately $7 million worth of mental stress claims in the transport industry which led to workers taking on an average of 110 days off work, impacting small business immensely.

Furthermore, there were over 4,000 level two injuries which can include traumatic joint injury, ligament and muscle injury, wounds, lacerations, musculoskeletal disorders and many more. Workers that experienced level two injuries in the transport industry ranged from taking five to 126 days off work.
