A fairer system

icare has been making workers insurance fairer for everybody in NSW by focusing on people, not process.

icare will continue to advocate for those who need it most; support injured workers in their return to work; work with employers to recognise and reward improvements in workplace safety; and listen to customers and learn from the best partners.

In a short time, icare has made a big difference.

  • Average time to process policy renewals is down from 90 days to 48 hours
  • Claims can be lodged 24 hours a day and almost 15 per cent of claims are lodged after hours or on weekends
  • Online claim lodgement can take just 15 minutes
  • Injured workers supported with the right level of care, depending on their injury
  • Significantly reduced treatment decision timeframes for workers from six weeks to five days.

We’re better than what came before. We have a fairer system, but as workplaces, workforces, medical advances and personal circumstances continue to rapidly change so must icare.

How are we doing it?

Safer Ways of Working — an icare aware award winner

The icare Aware Awards program recognises NSW businesses working to keep their people safer at work.

The awards are an opportunity for employers to showcase health and safety initiatives and share best practice with the industry.

JB Hi-Fi is one business that has continued to improve safety standards and reinforce a strong safety culture.

Part of JB HiFi’s focus on safety is its Safer Ways of Working program, developed to ensure that anyone who enters a JB HiFi store — team members, customers, contractors or suppliers — is looked after and leaves the store in the same condition they entered.

Safer Ways of Working was quickly adopted and driven by JB HiFi employees, who focused on looking at what they could do to foster a safer workplace.

During the first year the initiative was rolled out, the company started seeing a significant drop in its lost time injury frequency rate, which has dropped by 40 per cent over 2018-2019.

Following these significant achievements JB Hi-Fi is also focusing on mental health and wellbeing initiatives to promote even safer ways of working.
